A new era of reconstruction with factory-built insulated elements.
In manufacturing facade elements, EstNor draws on extensive know-how and decades of experience, offering the best expertise for raising a building's energy efficiency.
Why factory-built elements
- 90 % of facade work is carried out in the factory, in a controlled environment
- Prefabricated elements make on-site work far more efficient
- On-site work requires no scaffolding
- A safe, convenient renovation method for residents
- The solution meets fire-safety requirements
What EstNor provides
- Building survey and pull-out strength testing of fixings
- Structural design (BIM model)
- Factory production of the elements
- Ventilation ducting installed into the elements at the factory
- Transport from the factory to the building site
- Installation of the elements, plus preparatory and follow-up work on site
From building scan to installed facade
Scanning
The existing building is 3D-scanned from the ground and by drone — producing a detailed point cloud.
Modelling
A BIM model is built from the point cloud, on which the new facade elements are designed.
Preparation & corner elements
Brackets and a base rail are installed, then the first elements go up at the building's corners.
Installation & finishing
Elements are installed row by row, then ventilation, the stairwell, the rainwater system and the roof junction.
Where serial renovation works best
Apartment buildings from 1950–1979 with standardised floor plans and high energy consumption: linear blocks and large-panel buildings, residential blocks, estates with many identical houses. Similar geometries can be renovated efficiently with recurring element types – a whole neighbourhood rather than a single building.
- BEG funding for renovation to Efficiency House standard
- Additional bonus for serial renovation within the BEG
- Can be combined with roof storey additions / densification
- The funding landscape changes – check current terms before starting a project
A state funding scheme
The KredEx grant scheme funds the comprehensive reconstruction of apartment buildings or the replacement of heating systems with a renewable-energy solution. More information: KredEx.ee.
EstNor took part very successfully in the first KredEx pilot project (2022), securing the production of facade elements for 12 apartment buildings — all built on a timber frame, with mineral wool insulation, new PVC windows and the facade finish already applied at the factory. EstNor is the first and largest-volume manufacturer in this programme.
3–4 weeks, not almost a year
While insulating a 5-storey, 5-stairwell building on site with expanded polystyrene can take almost a year, our factory-built facade elements cover the same building's facade in just 3–4 weeks. No scaffolding is needed — it would block residents' view from their windows and pose a safety risk for the whole renovation.
